Delima Tani at Lot 49 & 50 Selangor Green Lane - Buying Organic, Herb, Annual flowers and Vege plants

You can find lots of flowering annuals, herbs and seasonal/festive plants in this nursery. The plants in the hanging pots in the picture above are periwinkle (kemunting cina) and Spanish moss.

They have many choices of herb plants, also a ready kit for growing pea sprouts. The herb plants I have seen are Thai basil, sweet basil (selasih), mint, coriander (cilantro), thyme, dill, sage, rosemary, stevia, cat whiskers (white and purple flower variety), pegaga, daun kesum (Polygonum minus) aka asam laksa leaves (daun kesum) and even lavender!

The price for herb plants grown in a nice new plastic pot is about RM 9.90 - RM 10.90. This is slightly more expensive as compared to other nurseries along the Selangor Green Lane belt where it costs about RM 6.00 per pot.  They claim that their plants are organically grown from seeds in a covered enclosure.

There are some vegetable plants, such as chili, lettuce, spring onions, chives and pea sprouts. For pea sprouts, you can buy:
a) freshly harvested sprouts - you can buy home to cook or you can eat it raw and fresh
b) seeds
c) growing kit to bring home to germinate.

Some of the flowering and ornamental plants available are anthurium, cockscomb, balloon flower (platycodon), celosia, cosmos, cleome, espiscia, gazania, gerbera daisies, gloxinia, gomphrena, hibiscus, Tillandsia uenoides (Spanish moss / Old Man's Beard / Pele's hair),  rose begonia, vinca (kemunting cina), zebra plant and zinnia.

You can also find shrubs, cacti, money plant, pitcher plants, palms, orchids and ferns.

Buying Rose Plants in Malaysia - Lot 57 Selangor Green Lane

I'm so sorry that during my first visit to this place early one weekday morning, it was closed!

Standing outside the locked gates, I could see many many potted rose plants. I should have called to find out the opening times. Well, now I know that the nursery is usually opened after 2pm. Based on my telephone conversation with Mr Hew Pang Keong, the owner, he seemed to have a wealth of knowledge about roses, planting, care and propagation. I'm sure he will be able to teach and share information on rose growing.

If you are new to growing roses, buy those hybrids which are suited to growing in the lowlands. One example is the Ros Kampung (Village Rose) but there are also many other choices. Temperate roses are more difficult to look after and may not be suited to our climatic conditions. Same goes for Cameron Highland roses - not all can thrive in the lowlands. Updated on 11 Mar 2012:
Yay, I'm so glad I had the chance to visit this nursery again.

There are many varieties of roses to choose from.
Some of the roses are as beautiful as those I saw at Floria 2011 last year.
Most of the roses we buy are rose hybrids and cultivars.

If you wish to know the names of the above roses, you can ask the owner.
He has all the info at his fingertips about the roses that he grows.
Roses are classified into old garden roses (e.g. kampung ros),
modern rose, hybrid teas, floribunda, polyantha, grandiflora, miniatures, etc.

The roses are growing under the direct effects of full sun and rainfall without the need for a cover or shade.
Some are sold in medium sized ceramic pots.

Some are sold in plastic pots. Prices start from RM 12.

Many are lowland roses that can thrive in our home gardens.
There are kampung rose, shrub rose, climbing rose, fragrance or no fragrance,
bloom in singles or in clusters, some almost thornless.
Flower sizes are miniature, small, medium or large.
I've been told that lasting blooms are almost odorless while fragrant blooms are not lasting.

Different varieties of roses have different petal colour, thickness, shapes and arrangement.

There are so many varieties to select, I wouldn't know which is which and what to buy.
Luckily, the owner was patient and willing to teach a newbie like me on the basics of growing roses.
You can call him later if you need further assistance or encounter problems at home.
Now, this is what I call good after sales service.

He has David Austin garden roses.
He also propagate new plants for sale.

He says he can help you plan, plant and maintain your rose garden.

You can buy organic rose manure here.

We are advised to use fertilizer specially formulated for growing roses and not to use the general purpose chicken/animal waste pellets, grannulated form, urea, foliar sprays for our roses.

He has the Christian Dior rose.
